Touchscreen monitors have come a long ways over the years, with many featuring oversized specifications, such as the Microsoft Hub. In an effort to compete with Microsoft, however, the PC and tech company Dell has announced a massive new 70-inch touchscreen monitor for businesses and schools.
The Dell 70 Interactive Conference Room, also known as the C7017T, has been designed specifically for commercial offices and schools. Boasting an impressive 70-inch touchscreen interface, it is expected to largely replace many interactive whiteboards. So, what type of features does this innovative new device offer? Let’s take a closer look at the Dell 70 Interactive Conference Room…
According to the official Dell website, the Interactive Conference Room features 10-point touch capabilities with two styluses included. Being that it includes these two styluses, it’s safe to assume the device uses resistive touchscreen technology. Normally, capacitive touchscreen devices do not work with a stylus or gloved finger because it restricts the flow of electricity from the operator to the device. But resistive touchscreen devices identify touch based on pressure instead of electrical charge, meaning they will continue to work with or without a stylus.
The Dell 70 Interactive Conference Room Monitor allows users to “Easily work together with 10-point hand touch capabilities, two included styluses, and consistent colors across a wide viewing angle.“
Along with 10-point touch capabilities and two styluses included, the Dell 70 Interactive Conference Room also features DP, HMDI and VGA ports, allowing for quick and easy setup. But what’s really impressive is the crystal-clear, high-definition display of this new device. The Dell 70 Interactive Conference Room features 1920×1080 resolution. Furthermore, it has a special coating over its LCD display that minimized light reflections and fingerprints. Known as an oleophobic coating, this is the same protective coating on most smartphones and tablet computers. It doesn’t necessarily prevent all light reflections and fingerprints. Rather, it minimizes them so they are less intense.
Of course, there’s another massive 70-inch touchscreen available on the market: the Microsoft Surface Hub. But Dell has the upper hand in terms of cost. At $5,000, The 70 Interactive Conference Room costs just a fraction of its counterpart. For small businesses and schools on a shoestring budget, their only option is likely the Dell 70 Interactive Surface Hub.
