The world’s largest and most prolific search engine is preparing to launch a massive 55-inch touchscreen whiteboard.
Dubbed the “Jamboard,” this brilliant interactive whiteboard features 4K resolution with touchscreen control. It’s expected to be Google’s first hardware product that’s rebranded under the company’s G Suite of cloud-based services, alongside Gmal, Google Drive, and Google Docs. As you may already know, these cloud-based services can be accessed from any Internet-connected computer or device, which is one of the most attractive elements to using cloud technology. Google’s upcoming Jamboard follows on a similar path, also leveraging the power of the cloud.
Of course, the Jamboard isn’t the firs digital whiteboard with touchscreen input available on the market. Another popular product is the Surface Hub. Developed by Microsoft, it caters to the same demographic of business owners, managers and other executive-level business professionals. But Google’s Jamboard shines in its use of cloud technology. As explained by Wired, Jamboard users can collaborate on the same project together via the Jamboard app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices. All chances occur in real time, without the need to “refresh” the respective document. Furthermore, the project leader can share the document on Google Hangouts, opening the doors to a whole new world of possibilities.
It’s also worth noting that whatever is being displayed on the Google Jamboard can also be displayed on a tablet. Users can add new elements, rearrange existing elements, and perform other changes, all while reproducing the visual display on a tablet or other comparable device. With that said, this feature is only available on smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices running either the Android or iOS app. This means that you cannot replicate the image of your Jamboard on a desktop computer — not unless the computer is running either the Android or iOS mobile app, which most do not.
Being that Jamboard is linked to Google’s online cloud-based document storage service Google Drive, you don’t have to worry about losing your documents. All documents created and managed through Jamboard are saved on Google Drive. Therefore, you can rest assured knowing that your documents are safely stored in a secure location where you can easily access them. If you want to access your documents from a different device, simply pull up your Google Drive account on the respective device.
