Originally released April 2014, the OnePlus One has become one of the hottest Android-powered smartphones on the market. It features a 5.5-inch full-HD display, 3GB of random access memory, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, a 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash, and a smaller 5-megapixel secondary “selfie” camera. However, many users have reported bugs and sensitivity problems associated with the device’s touchscreen.
The touchscreen issue isn’t necessary widespread, as only a small number of users have reported experiencing it. Nonetheless, there are dozens of forum and message boards pertaining to the issue. Some users have said their OnePlus One isn’t responding to touch, whereas others say the sensitivity is either too high or too low.
Well, appears that OnePlus — the company behind this highly popular device — has issued a fix for the problem. The company released a new build of its signature Cyanogen OS earlier this month which aims to improve the OnePlus One’s touchscreen function. Dubbed OxygenOS, the new build is currently only available through direct download via the OnePlus One forums. This means users won’t be able to fix their device’s touchscreen issues through an over-the-air (OTA) update.
Furthermore, OxygenOS is currently in the beta stages, meaning it could triggers bugs and problems of its own.
You can find detailed step-by-step instructions on how to install OxygenOS on your OnePlus One, but it basically includes downloading the file, copying the OxygenOS zip and MD5 into the download folder, disabling CM Recovery on your handset, connecting your computer to your OnePlus One, opening and running the OnePlusOneMigration.exe file (must be done as system Admin or user with Admin privileges), accept driver prompts, and follow the on-screen instructions. Granted, it’s a somewhat lengthy process — and a bit more technical that some users would prefer — but it should resolve the touchscreen issues that have plagued the OnePlus One.
“The offending touchscreen issue has been plaguing some users of the OnePlus for a while, and the company has acknowledged the issue several times, and many attempts to fix it. Notably, OnePlus has previously tried to fix the touchscreen issues on OnePlus One handset back in November last year by rolling out an OTA update. In August, OnePlus had pushed the CM11S 33R update for the touch unresponsiveness, but it had only fixed the issue partially,” said the folks at NDTV.com.
